Happy winter solstice from D’light
Winter in the Nordics is very challenging with its very short days, however we have had quite few days this winter with sunshine, with beautiful colors that mesmerized the sky.
I recently came across the term ‘skycology’, where scientists are attempting to understand the effect of sky on our biological health and well-being more in details. This is not new, but the term itself was new to me.
We know that having a view out from the buildings we occupy is important for our health, and with our fast-paced lifestyle, we need our homes to be well-daylight, and all rooms to have direct light through windows, to regulate our circadian rhythms and help us in de-stressing.
This is of course a reflection towards the recent changes to the local regulations in Sweden, where the daylight assessment criteria are changing from July 2025. However, I am hopeful that by continuously bringing the benefits of daylight and view out, and how that reflects on long term investments, especially considering the need for more flexible buildings in the future, we can continue to build beautiful homes for us and for the future generations to come.
